Booking a session

19 Aug 20265 min read

This guide walks through the journey from deciding you want support to a confirmed session, with a Leshya account. If you would rather not create an account yet, our guest booking guide covers the same journey without one.

Finding the right counselor

There are three ways in. Find your match is a 5-step quiz, also reachable as step two of the home checklist: your concerns (you can pick more than one), languages, session format (with an optional city if you want in-person), budget, and counselor preference. Your answers save to your profile, and you can retake the quiz any time with your previous answers already filled in. The results show your top matches with "why this match" reasons, a starting price, and a real next-available time. If nobody fits, the empty state suggests loosening a preference. If there is no local counselor for an in-person request, online counselors are offered instead.

The second way in is the directory, with filters, plus dedicated pages by city, concern, and language. The third is a direct profile link, if a counselor has shared theirs with you.

Only counselors who are genuinely ready to see clients show up in the directory and match results: published, with at least one active offering, availability set, and a meeting link connected (or a saved address for in-person). Which plan a counselor is on never affects whether you can see or book them.

Booking

On the counselor's profile, pick an offering and press Book now. Choose a day and time, shown in your local timezone. If the offering supports both, you will be asked to choose online or in-person.

The details step recognizes you as the signed-in customer, showing "Booking as {your name}", so you do not retype anything. A "Not you?" link lets you switch accounts if needed.

Review the session summary, apply a gift card if you have one, and pay through Razorpay. Your slot is held for 15 minutes with a live countdown while you do this. Once it goes through, you will see "You're all set!" plus an email with the meeting link (for online sessions) or the address (for in-person).

Free sessions and sessions fully covered by a gift card skip the payment step and confirm instantly.

After booking

Home shows your upcoming session with a countdown, a Join button, and a reschedule link. The daily mood check-in also appears on Home from your first booking onward, and it is private to you. A reminder arrives 24 hours before the session, and online sessions are joined through the meeting link.

Before your first session

Your first booking with a counselor comes with a short prepare step, linked from your confirmation email and reachable from the booking itself.

The very first time you use Leshya, a short note explains how counseling here works and asks for two agreements: that you understand the nature of counseling, and that Leshya stores your answers and session records. Both are written in plain words, and nothing is pre-ticked.

Depending on what you booked, you may also be asked a few short questions to help your counselor prepare: what brings you, whether you have had counseling before, anything you would like them to know, and someone to reach in an emergency. Not every session type asks for this, and your counselor chooses which questions to ask when it does.

Your answers save as you type and can be changed any time until the session starts. After that they are set. Only you and your counselor can read your answers. They are stored encrypted, and nobody at Leshya can open them.

Skipping this never holds up your session. If the questions are still open, the 24-hour reminder includes a gentle link back. If there is nothing to fill in before your session, the prepare step tells you so and sends you back to your booking.

You can withdraw your agreement any time from My account, under the Privacy tab. Withdrawing never cancels sessions you have already booked.

What to do next

Once your session is booked, our guide to managing your bookings covers rescheduling, cancelling, and leaving a review. When you are ready to see the same counselor again, our guide to continuing with your counselor covers booking your next session with them.
